Kit Kat and M&M Cake


Preheat the oven to 190 C/ 170 C Fan/ Gas Mark 5/
Sponge ingredients
170g butter
170g caster sugar
115g self-raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
55g cocoa powder

Buttercream (filling)
85g unsalted butter
185g icing sugar
55g milk chocolate
1 drop vanilla essence

Chocolate cream
500g double cream
1tbsp caster sugar
50g milk chocolate

1. Mix the butter and the sugar in a bowl

2. Sieve the cocoa, flour and salt into a bowl and crack one of the eggs into a cup or ramekin. Stiring all the time, add the egg and a third of the flour mixture into the sugar and butter, add the second egg and third of the flour and add the last egg and flour mixture in to the butter and sugar

3. Put the mixture into a round baking tin and bake for 35 minutes

4. Take out of the oven and let it cool for 15 minutes. Meanwhile make the buttercream by melting the chocolate in the microwave or in a bowl over barely simmering water

5. Cut the cake in half to add in the buttercream filling

6. Make the cream by using a mixer to beat the double cream, when almost thickened fold in the melted chocolate

7. Add the kit kats and m&ms for decoration
